Your Vote: Your Voice on School Food
From our founding, Real Food for Kids has advocated for health-driven, culturally responsive school food programs as a wellness priority for our school systems.
In the past four years, rollbacks to USDA nutrition standards have further threatened the quality of food served to our students. During the COVID-19 pandemic, rates of childhood obesity and Type 2 diabetes have skyrocketed. More than ever, the coronavirus crisis has amplified the critical need for healthy, accessible school meals, not just for our most vulnerable students, but for every student.
Congress is five years overdue to improve and strengthen the Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act – the laws governing school meal programs. The future of school food could be cemented by the next administration.
Our colleagues at FoodCorp invite you to learn more about how your voice, your vote, can shape school meals in your community. Together we can define the future of school food before it is defined for us.
